Poonam Mahajan is a prominent politician of India and the strongest member of Bhartiya Janata party (BJP), the ruling party of the time. At the age of 26 years, Mahajan took step in Indian politics and became the member of BJP in 2006. In the same year, she was directly chosen the General Secretary of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha of Maharashtra. Later, Poonam was appointed as the National Vice President of Bhartiya Janata Yuva Morcha in 2010 and worked for her party for building the organizational capacity at national level.
Due to her organizational skills and hard work, BJP has selected her as the National President of BJYM from 2016 to 2020. Apart from politics, Mahajan was also interested in animal welfare and environment protection. She is considered the contributor for resolving the issues related to environment and animals life. For her much interest in animal welfare, Poonam is currently working as Chairman of Maharashtra State Animal Welfare Board. Poonam is the first Indian female who was appointed as the president of Basketball Federation of India. She also served as the Member of Parliament (Lower House; Lok Sabha) from Maharashtra.

Poonam Mahajan was born on 9 December, 1980 (age= 42 years as 2022) in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. She is the daughter of a very Popular politician and the powerful member of BJP Pramod Mahajan who was murdered in 2006. Poonam has an elder brother named Rahul Mahajan. Poonam got married to Anand Rao and the couple was blessed with two children Aadya Rao and Avika Rao.
Political Career
Poonam Mahajan was interested in politics and welfare of animals & human beings. So, she began her political career by joining the Bharatiya Janata Party in 2006, at the age of 26 years. In this year, Mahajan was designated as General Secretary of Bhartiya Janata Yuva Morcha from Maharashtra Unit. In 2009, Mahajan was first time contested in the Assembly Elections but she lost the election. She did not stopped and remained busy in her work and became the National Vice President of BJYM in 2010.
Due to her organizational skills she was designated as the National Secretary of Bhartiya Janata Party in 2013. In the same year, she won the Lok Sabha elections by beating first time in the History of India to the strongest hold seat from Mumbai North Central. She became the Member of Parliament. In 2016, Poonam was designated as the National President of BJYM.
