Asha Parekh is an elderly and retired Indian actress, film director and producer. She was the highest paid actress of her period who had seen in many commercially successful Hindi film throughout her career. Parekh was considered one of the most successful and influential actresses of the 1960s and 1970s. She made her film debut as a child artist in the Hindi film ” Maa “ in 1952 when she was only 10 years old. As a child artist she was appeared in many film like; Aasmaan (1952), DhobiDoctor (1954), Shri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu (1954), Baap Beti (1954) and Ustad (1957).
As a lead actress she made her debut with the film ” Dil Deke Dikho “ in 1959 in which she did the role of Neeta. In 1963, she also seen in a Gujrati film ” Akhan Saubhagyavati ” with the role of Usha and she was also appeared in a Punjabi films ” Kankan De Ohle “ (1974) and ” Lambhadarni ” (1980). In her career she appeared in various Hindi films. Asha did her cameo appearance in the film ” Sar Ankhon Par “ in 1999. In her 57 years long acting career she had won many awards and nominated as best actress various times. For her brillient performances she was awarded with Padma Shri Award in 1992 by the Government of India and also honoured with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in the year of 2020.

Her father Bachubhai Parekh was a Hindu Gujrati and her mother Sudha Salma Parekh was a Gujrati Muslim. At her early age, she was enrolled in an Indian classical dance classes by her mother where she learned from many teachers. She put her full interest in learning the dance and she was also very fond of acting. Throughout her career she did not romantically involved with any person and has remained unmarried yet.

Her career was begun when she was seen at a stage dance function by the famous film director Bimal Roy when she was just 10 years old. He casted her in his film Maa in 1952 as a child artist and repeated her in the film Baap Beti in 1954. In her early career she did not get any fame and got disappointed. At that time she tried hard but could not be cast in any film. At the age of 16 years,she appeared as a heroine in a Nasir Hussain’s derected film ” Dil Deke Dekho “ in 1959. With the association of Nasir Hussain she was casted in six more films as a heroine: Jab Payar Kisi Se Hota Hai (1961), Phir Wohi Dil Laya Hoon (1963), Teesri Manzil (1966), Baharon Ke Sapne (1967), Payar Ka Mausam (1971) and Caravan (1971).
